       Pul-e-khumri I Hydro electric plant

 

 

 

 

 

 

This plant using German equipment of capacity 3 x 1.6 . MW, is damaged and the cost for rehabilitation is estimated at USS 1.8 million. This plant belongs to the Ministry of Mines and Industry and is operating at low capacity.

 

Pul-e- Khumri

Pulikhumri I Hydroelectric plant. This plant was built on the Pulikhumri River in 1964by USSR at a cost of USS 3.9 million with a capacity of 3 x 3 MW using Kaplan type turbines. The purpose of this plant was to provide power to the towns of Pulikhumri Baghlan and Kunduz. Only one turbine is currently operational. The other 2turbinesrequire servicing and spare parts, especially turbine oil and carbon brushes. Rehabilitation cost of this plant is about US$ 12 million.
